Storm Damage From Sump Pump Failure In Oak Lawn, IL

Over the weekend in the Chicago area we were hit with some heavy storms leaving a lot of damage.

When it is raining outside, we recommend taking a minute to check and make sure your sump pump is working.

  • Does your sump pump have power? Make sure that it is plugged in and the breaker has not tripped.
  • Check the float and make sure it is free of any debris and away from the side wall so that it works properly.
  • Also check the inlet in case there is debris that could prevent it from pumping out the water.
  • Is the pump working? You can easily test this by filling the pit with enough water to reach the float so that it triggers it to start running.
  • Last thing to check is the area where the sump pump drains. It should drain away from the foundation so that it does not leak back in.

In the event you do find yourself with water damage, call SERVPRO of Oak Lawn today (708)239-1444 we are here to help.
